Just like that, another year edges towards a glorious end. Resolutions were made, resolutions were broken (almost all!). But if there’s one resolution there’s still some time left for, it’s perhaps the most important one of them all: medical health check up. More specifically, getting them done periodically.
Of course, the odd research might claim that getting a ridiculous amount of health check up done every year gives no beneficial insight. That is debatable. But there is no debate that for some specific organs of the body, the passing of the year is not always kind. And that’s why it’s important to ensure that you keep a tab on certain vitals over the course of the year. And by certain vitals, check up on blood pressure & blood sugar is right up on top. India is the diabetes capital of India with the largest number of cases of type-2 diabetes within all age groups. The biggest reason? Spiking blood sugar levels in India. Having a blood check up every year doesn’t sound that bad after all, does it? Ladies, if you’re reading, pay attention - 46% percent women in India, above the age of 50, suffer from Osteoporosis. The trick is to catch it in its nascent stages which means starting checkups as early as at 20 years of age, and not waiting for bone density check up till its too late. And since you’re dropping down to the labs, might as well get your profiling done on your thyroid as well. For senior citizens, a resolution for regular medical health check up is quite necessary. Now, the aim is not to scare you but rather create awareness. These days, a lot of labs offer one-time-conducted full body checkups. These checkups cover from ECG to blood tests, protein checks to lipid profiling, and much more. And not just senior citizens, there’s no age to keep a tab on your health. As they say, prevention is better than cure, and the best prevention is by catching symptoms early. So, go ahead. Make that resolution to stay updated with your health.
